What a wonderful day Memorial Day was this year!
Asa and I had made a quick decision on Friday to go to the beach for memorial day since he didn't have to work. Originally, we were going to head up to Atlantic City, New Jersey since we had been there before and we knew what part of the beach we liked. However, then I checked how much tolls would be and as it happened, it would have been $40 round trip in tolls to go to Atlantic City, not counting parking or food, etc. So we made a last minute (10pm on Sunday) decision to go to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware instead. (and ended up only paying $6 in tolls) I am so glad we made that choice! Rehoboth was beautiful and not very crowded. I had done some late night research and figured out that it would be better for us to buy a parking permit and park further down the beach rather than park on the main road and pay a meter, and I am so glad that we did that! The beach was much less crowded where we were and it was so relaxing! We rented an umbrella and laid out on the beach all day long with occasional trips into the freezing cold Atlantic Ocean. We packed BLT's for lunch and some snacks, and we each had a good book to read, it was so wonderful. After being beach bums all day, we drove to a nearby Wawa to change clothes and grab an iced coffee, then we walked along the boardwalk and around downtown Rehoboth and just completely enjoyed ourselves. Asa tried his first Salt Water Taffy and I actually ate fish and liked it (I hate seafood). Finally, we got back in the car and drove the two & a half hours home. Just to brag on my fiancé, he thought enough to talk about hair brushes and beauty products with me while we were in traffic going over the bay bridge to keep my mind off the fact that we were in traffic going over a bridge. (... bridges and I don't get along) He's amazing and I'm so glad I got to spend the whole day with him.
Also, if you have never been to Rehoboth Beach, I would strongly recommend going. It was a beautiful little town with so much to do and so many things near by! It was a ton of fun, can't wait to go back!
Here are some pictures! :) Enjoy!
